Short description for AddressBook Enterprise Client 0.9: AddressBook Enterprise is an extended version of the standard AddressBook byPalm, Inc., allowing more than 16 categories and providing synchronization witha centralized database (with AddressBookEnterprise Server).
The complete system consists of a Palm client, desktop component (conduit)and eventually a server component. The client component can be used standalone, although it doesn't provide that much functionality over the originalAddressBook yet. Upon installation, it will automatically import all AddressBookdata entries in its own database and install a conduit for backing them up. Fromthis moment, any data entered in ABE will not appear in the standardAddressBook, although it could still be beamed to another device running thestandard application. Also, any data entered in the standard AddressBook will notbe further imported in ABE. The program is designed as replacement, not additionto the AddressBook.
The Servercomponent allows for all ABE clients to be synchronized with a centralizedmaster database, thus making it interesting for enterprises. The downloadableversion works with standalone database and provides a tool for its management, but a more sophisticated solutions would include direct connection withdatabases like Exchange, Outlook or Notes.
The downloadable version is completely functional, but considered a DEMObecause of the minimal set of enhancements it offers for the moment. Companiesand enterprises are welcome to BEIKS for custom modifications and licensing theapplication and the technology behind it.
