Great App. Easy to use/install, even for a Mac user!. =) Great options to override the software imposed software sound blocks, a must buy if you really like to tweak your phones Sound options.

Very nice app!

this program does what its supposed to. the desktop application is pretty flawless and easy to use and there were detailed instructions on how to modify existing .wav files in order to make them more compatible with the pocket pc. in addition to this, on the pocket pc 2002 format, there is no way to change the startup sounds in addition to other sounds as such within the device, so a program like this is essential. they've put out a couple more themepaks, but i like the fact that i can input my own wav files. like the reviewer said below, the program does not erase the previous sound files it installs, but you can manually delete them. i think this is an advantage as it allows the user to manually get rid of the sounds he/she doesn't want. i'm happy with my purchase, but i wish they had put out a trial version.

I like to change my SPV's sounds a lot and there was no easy way to do that until now. Sounds cool is a blessing for this. I can browse my sounds in windows and upload them to my spv. Real easy. I recommend it to anyone who want to change their SPV sounds easily. Cheers!

I am going to keep going down on my reviews... This keeps showing as updated, when it has not really been. How come is that? STILL no new free sounds and no update to the software. Starting to wish I had not spent the money it... Oh well - maybe new sounds will come soon.
Bobby Meeks wrote at 02/17/2003
Bought it- works well. Pretty cool, but where are the "additional free themes" I have searched the web with no luck??? I will keep looking...
Stephan Kravitz wrote at 01/17/2003
To: James Wood,
You missed the point. The desktop is used to manage your sounds then upload them to your handheld. On the handheld the uploaded sounds will replace the standard sounds that come with the handheld.
James Wood wrote at 01/06/2003
Now why would i buy this product to run on the desktop???
Ravital A wrote at 12/03/2002
I just have one problem with the software... that it doesn't delete the prev sound files
(not talking about original sound files that are in ROM) if you change theme it just uploads the new wav files
and leaves the old ones behind.. its just a waste of good space and means I have to go and delete them
myself

Easy to use, and the sexy theme is realy great.

Wow, what a great idea. ! Very nice. The standard sounds are so boaring that this adds new life. This is a very functional application.

Handy and straightforward tool. It manages themes from your DESKTOP.
I tried Sound Effects, which has a different approach: it runs on your
HANDHELD.
The two programs do essentially the same thing, but Sounds Cool has two
advantages as I see it: 1) it costs only half and 2) you never have to
soft reset to change a sound (which is a bloody nuisance!)
As a sidenote: what's against some nice competing software? The more
choice we have, the better, no?
Thomas Scheidegger wrote at 11/17/2002
This is something I've been looking for for a long time. And the themes that are delieverd with the package are awesome ! I always thought that the Pocket PC themes missed sound, as the desktop windows themes allow you to choose sounds also. I tried demo's of other sound software but they didn't do the job the way I wanted and they were too expensive. I can highly recommend this.

"don't judge unless you used the program">>>
I can judge it without using the program at all. Its a ripoff. No matter how many programs do the same thing, anyone can still do it without spending money.
------------
"The information provided here is suposed to be usefull info for other potential buyers (wether it's positive or negative )">>>
Yes, and i am writing a negative review. OK, read what you wrote, then think about what you wrote.... HAHA That makes absolutly no sense. I dont care if i wrote it, or who created it, or who designed it or whatever. Its not a "screw your company" post. Its a *this program is a ripoff* post. Believe me, im not 5 people who just *cough* happen to show up and defend the program *cough* after a negative post. *cough* I am one person who sees that this program is charging money for something you can do WITHOUT spending the money.
-----------------
"And for the "Chief Chief" review,if you realy feel this program is a total ripoff don't hide yourself behind your nickname">>>
OK dont try to shift the focus here and get personal. Im not putting my real name or my real Email address on anything anywhere and theres no reason to. That means absolutly nothing. Nor does it give or take away from the credibility of any post i make.
-----------------
"But would you rather have seen we sold the program without any sounds including...?!?">>>
Again, that means absolutly nothing. You can download thousands upon thousands of free wav files from the net. Again, why pay for something you can get for free? You can get more than your harddrive could ever store, for free, online....
-------------------
"Why should people buy an image viewer for their pocket PC, you can view them in internet explorer, why should you buy a program to control your tv through IR, you can do that with the RC for free, why should you buy a restaurant guide for the ppc, you can find them for free on the internet,..........">>>
And all of these programs, making web pages, downloading resturant guides, controlling your TV through IR, you can get all of these programs for free. This program is charging money for something you can do for free already! Again your shifting the focus of the post. Look... there is a total difference in scale here. Creating a web page is alot more complex and difficult, than asigning a wav file to an event. This program charges money for something that is so basic... So easy... So simple... I mean they included the directions for changing sounds in the PocketPCs manual. If the program added wav editing, and plugins and other stuff you cant do with a couple simple stylus taps, then maybe it would be worth it. But it costs the consumer money, to perform an action on thier handheld which they do not need to spend money in order to do. Does that make sense?

What a controverse here. People, read the word "review"....So, don't judge unless you used the program, ...
The information provided here is suposed to be usefull info for other potential buyers (wether it's positive or negative )and not for expresing your feeling against any publisher or program. And for the "Chief Chief" review,if you realy feel this program is a total ripoff don't hide yourself behind your nickname and buy the program, you'll see that letting the user use his own favorite WAV-sound (wherever he got them from) on his pocketPC is the whole meaning of the program. But would you rather have seen we sold the program without any sounds including...?!?
And pointing out that you can change all the soundz yourself manually by simply going to the sound settings isn't true either, just try to change one of the extended notifications this way on a ppc 2002! good luck ...
Even if it was that simple to do it yourself and you'ld call it a ripoff, ok. Why should people buy an image viewer for their pocket PC, you can view them in internet explorer, why should you buy a program to control your tv through IR, you can do that with the RC for free, why should you buy a restaurant guide for the ppc, you can find them for free on the internet, why should you buy one of the 1000 tetris clones , you can find them for free on the internet, why should you buy ppc theme's, you can make them yourself for free, why do people buy software for making websites, you can do this in notepad...
And if you still don't like the program just ask for a refund.

(reply on previous review) Well, following your philosophy, we can label about 90% of the tool/utility software as a "rip-off" as ANYTHING can be done manually, but the software is there to faciliate things, isn't it ? I suggest you sell your PC and pocket PC. If you want to write something, take a piece of paper and a pen, if you want to send mail, put it in an envelope and send it out... I won't pay $50 for a thing I want to do once in my life and that can be done do manually in 20 minutes. If it's something I want to do regularly and the tool only costs $10, it faciliates my life at very little cost.

This program is stupid.... The same amount of time it will take to learn this program, could be spent on how to use the handheld. Putting sound effects on your PocketPC is as easy as going to a wav site [searching for "wav" in any search engine will reveal many MANY sites with thousands upon thousands of sound effects] Not only sound effects, but also lines from movies, games, music... All you have to do is download the ones you like, and copy them onto your handheld. Then on your handheld simply go to settings: sounds: and choose a sound effect for every event. Thats it. Its that easy. Your going to have to download sound effects anyways, unless you plan on using the what... maybe couple hundred of sound effects they provide. Thats nothing compared to the hundreds of thousands of effects you can find online for absolutly free.
This piece of software does nothing but charge you money for something you can do VERY easily on your own. Its a complete ripoff. And any other company who folows suit is doing the same. I see they use words like "easily" and "browse them before you put them on your device". You can do the same damn thing by opening them on your Desktop PC. Wav files are so small, even on a dialup modem you can download them in seconds! This program is a ripoff. Nothing more than a play on words!
